Our home school co-op group (TNT) had a 4 week unit study on Ancient Egypt. Greg and I taught the younger kids for two of the four weeks. At the end all of the teachers from that unit (about 8 teachers) wrap up the unit with a big 5th week activity. We decorated the main room and a classroom. The kids arrived and had opening ceremony. After that they were broken up by tiers (2 grades per tier) and sent to a classroom. There were 4 classrooms -- the mummy room (they mummified a banana and examined a mummified chicken, the festival room (songs and food tasting), the tomb room (a story and a walk through a really neat maze) and the archaeological dig room (our room -- learn how to section off an area, dig for treasure and reconstruct objects). It was a lot of fun!
