June -->> wedding video (thanks to Abby)

Uncle Chris singing at the wedding.

June -->> wedding

Not a great shot -- but the only one of the whole family!

June -->> wedding day

Beautiful wedding!!! We are very pleased to welcome Katie into the family:)
The wedding was at 4:00, followed by an outdoor reception (wonderful tent set up at the golf course). It was all decorated beautifully! We stayed for the food and delicious wedding cake! Greg stayed later to set off the fireworks (Operation Marmot as they called it).

June -->> vacation

My travel log:
Wednesday, June 24th:
-another long trek in the car (a little over 700 miles)
-met up with the Poissants (Greg's sister Veronica, Jay, Chantal and Garret) in Eau Claire, WI (after our first Sonic experience)
-stopped in Hillsboro and dropped the kids off with Greg's brother Jeff, Stacy, Josiah and Ezra to stay the night
-spent our first of seven nights at the Lakeview Inn in Grand Forks
Thursday, June 25th:
-ate a waffle breakfast (without the girls)
-pool time
-Happy Joe's with the Poissants, Nolan and his friend Aaron
-day of relaxation after the road trip
Friday, June 26th:
-took a nice walk (picked a large wild rhubarb leaf, scraped cattails, collected cotton from the cotton trees)
-hmmm... tornado sirens on the way to the rehearsal supper at the country club!!
-Greg's brother Chris and wife Helen did not make it to the rehearsal supper (lock down at the hotel -- funnel cloud spotted not too far from hotel)
-the pictures above show us all decked out for the supper:)
-afterwards the Poissants and our family climbed on one bed per family and watched part of Enchanted (see picture above)

June -->> our vacation -- on our way...

Tuesday, June 23rd we packed up our rental (Nissan Altima) and drove, drove, drove, drove, drove....
Our first day (with over 700 miles clocked) we stayed the night at a Days Inn in Rockford, Illinois (and no, I would not recommend this hotel).

June -->> scientist

Taylor -- our little scientist!!

June -->> Jenga alphabet

Here is Benny and his creativity with the Jenga blocks!!

June -->> missing teeth

This picture shows Taylor and a tooth she pulled at the end of June. Since then, she pulled yet another while on vacation (first one on the bottom, second one on the top).

June -->> Father's Day

Ta-da... the kids created an awesome taco feast for their dad on Father's Day (because they did this all on their own, it was a treat for Mom too). Great kids...

June -->> sweet friends

Our dear friends were here from the Netherlands!! We spent every possible minute with them. A bunch of sleepovers, birthday celebration, pool time and a whole lot of laughs, giggles and playtime. We miss them soooo much:)

June -->> Superman

What happens when a five year old boy receives Superman hand-me-down pajamas?? Answer: immediately puts them on, adds the belt and cape and flies like Superman:)

June -->> History -- New Colonies in the New World

What better way to remember history than to eat a Thanksgiving feast, fill out our own Mayflower Compact (check out the line about the "dread parents"), and strap on a plunger so that we can remember Peter Stuyvesant (of course, you remember him... the fellow with the wooden peg leg that helped with the New Amsterdam settlement that later was taken over by the English and renamed New York!!!). A few fun facts we also learned -- Wall Street (downtown NY) is named after the wall that Stuyvesant built to protect the colony from the English and Broadway was the Broad Way where the Dutch public housed once served traders from all over the world.

June -->> missionary friends

We spent some time with our missionary friends!! We have known them since our oldest kids were babies. We enjoyed time with them at our house one day and pool time another day. It was great to see the kids interact and have a great time with each other. We miss them...

June -->> deck time

Breakfast on the deck, homeschooling on the deck -- what a life:)

June -->> slug

Slug -- ugh...

June -->> Fishing Derby

We went to our first fishing derby at Lake Fairfax on June 6th. They supplied us with fishing rods, worms and help from a veteran fisherman (he helped each of the three kids catch a fish). Abby caught (I think) 5 or 6 fish and received a prize at the end. The kids are excited to go fishing again!!

June -->> piano recital

Abby's piano recital!

June -->> History -- Warlords of Japan

We turned our attention to Japan in our history study. We had a Japanese Tea Ceremony (there are a lot of courses) and Sumo wrestling (see pictures).

June -->> History -- Northwest Passage

After learning a bit about Champlain and Henry Hudson's search for the Northwest Passage, I helped the kids make a ship! They christened it Rosebud:)

June -->> kids photos

My attempts at getting a nice shot of the kids. Boy oh boy...
