TNT - Civil War 5th week

This week the kids wrapped up a unit study on the Civil War at TNT. It was great -- and they came home with lots of information. Perfect timing, we will be studying the Civil War in our history studies soon!

Geography

We started a new geography curriculum this week. To start out we drew a world map from memory (very interesting). Our second project is shown below. The kids drew the continents on a grapefruit, took the peeling off, and tried to lay it flat like a map. Helps them to understand the difference between the globe and a flat map:)

November 14th -- tree cutting

We had our black locust cut down after finding out a raccoon had taken up residence (meaning that the inside of the tree was very hollow). Unfortunately I missed out on taking a shot of the raccoon. That animal was big!!!

November 9th - Taylor's birthday

Taylor had 3 requests for her birthday! First, she wanted white bread (if you look closely I carved TAY in her bread). Second, she wanted drumsticks instead of birthday cake. And finally she wanted to go to Wendy's for a birthday lunch. She is very easy to please:)

Taylor turned 9 on the 9th! She had a busy day. She started her day with TNT and ended it with choir. But in between we spent some great birthday time with her:)

Halloween costume

Oops! Forgot to take a picture of the kids Halloween costumes. Ben was a knight in shining armor:) The girls wore the colonial dresses (see pictures of our Jamestown trip). They had a great time -- lots and lots of candy!

November 5th -- birthday cake

My mom loves the Milwaukee Custard cakes when she comes to town. So, we always find someones birthday to celebrate!!! This is by far the cutest cake:)

My gutsy dad wanted to take down our front tree! Thankfully the limbs were hanging over power lines -- the limbs he took down put some grey hair on my head!!
